Hi, I’m Amber Van Treeck!

In my practice, I have two main focuses. The first is trauma treatment via EMDR. My second specialization is working with adults with ADHD.

I have a great love of trauma work and helping clients to realize how trauma has been impacting them. I focus on helping clients to increase their feelings of trust and safety, develop emotional awareness of their triggers and improve irritability and other mood and relationship side effects related to trauma. I often use EMDR in trauma treatment. I fell in love with trauma work because it is so impactful for my clients. I am passionate about seeing clients identify what was traumatic and how it has impacted them. I love to watch clients discover how they can heal and become their authentic selves.

Through trauma work, I often help clients learn to implement boundaries in their personal and professional lives. This often comes up during trauma treatment as people realize how certain relationships in their lives can be toxic or impact their energy. I help clients analyze these relationships and then prompt them to explore how boundaries can help them in their interpersonal relationships.

As an adult, I was diagnosed with ADHD. I have two AuDHD boys. I strive to be a neurodiversity affirming provider and have personal insight into how ADHD can affect adult women. I also have experience parenting neurodivergent children and I’m passionate about supporting other parents of neurodivergent kiddos. I am a firm believer that neurodiversity can be hard but can also be a superpower and encourage my neurodiverse clients to explore how their neurodiversity can benefit them. I operate from a neurodiversity-affirming approach.

If you choose to work with me, we will start by doing an intake appointment where I gather information about you and your history. We will also discuss what you’re seeking in therapy. From there, we’ll create an individual treatment plan to outline what goals you have for your mental health. We’ll then decide how to move forward and what modalities we will be using. For clients with ADHD, there is a lot more to treatment than just medication!

I identify as a Person-Centered Therapist. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a huge part in healing and I strive to be a safe and comfortable space for all of my clients. I can utilize EMDR in many ways (chronic pain, ADHD symptoms, PTSD). I also have done trainings in CBT which can help clients to notice patterns in their thinking and begin to change those patterns. I am working on my ADHD-CSSP.

I strive to help clients achieve overall wellness!

The Woman behind the therapist

My primary identity is being a mother and wife. I have two amazing boys and a husband who are very supportive of my career. In my free time, I love to be outdoors. I spend a lot of time hiking with my family and with our dogs. I also have goats, chickens, ducks, bunnies and a barn cat. When I’m not outside, I am an avid reader and love sitting down with a good book. I fell into counseling after my brother passed away at a young age to substance abuse. Because of this, I am passionate about helping to support others in their struggles.
